Another small milestone today, the pedal box is now fitted,

the dashboard fixed, and the wiring extended to the ignition switch,

It's now back on its wheels, the back axle just needs keys dropping in, and hubs tightening up.

I reckon it's about a day off trying to start, but sadly we are off to see children  and grand children for Easter.

That's a fine looking machine Peter. You should be real proud and give yourself a big pat on the back. Are you bringing it to the Star and garter event? It will make a great addition to the line up of Austins that are already going.
If you can drive round corners, you're not going fast enough.

Another good day on the cyclekart, this time working on the engines, yes, both of them.
The 600cc Suzuki in the front got a new carburettor and supercharger,

and was then treated to an exhaust pipe

Although in reality it's a 3D print of half a microphone and an outboard motor carb, coupled to a shower valve and some vacuum cleaner pipe.....

So I thought it was time to stop fannying around and get the real one at the other end to turn over, and low and behold it kicked into life at the first attempt, much easier than I thought it would be.

Another step closer

Loving the engine bay, it's looking very good!

Looking superb Peter, thee cks are becoming much more "works of art" by the day!

Waiting for a new chain to connect the drive up, so I spent the holiday on more pointless weight addition to the cyclekart, but it really wouldn't look right without louvres, and curved ones at that
.
As I mentioned in a previous post, louvres in a plastic body don't really work, so cheating is the name of the game.

56 resin cast louvres later, the bonnet is now done, and I've just got to cut some of the side panel louvres down to fit around the blisters that are next on the list.

Another productive day on the cyclekart, the transmission is finally hooked up, and it appears to work, I now only need to connect a throttle cable and bleed the brakes to find out if it actually goes forwards and backwards when it's on the deck.

I also had a chance to play with the cheapo Chinese tachometer, though I doubt it was really doing 5000 revs......

The bonnet has also had a quick blast of primer, to highlight where it needs the odd smear of filler, so it's starting to come together at last.

A bit more done on the cyclekart today, to try and get it ready to take to Brooklands, not sure if it will be driveable, but it does now have a throttle cable and transmission that works on blocks. Just need to bleed the brake and put keys in the rear end and it should be mobile.

The dummy supercharged Suzuki 600 is now done, removable when the bonnet is on,

all of the internals of the body parts are painted, with the outside of the body in primer, just need to get the tail made now, but that will have to wait a bit.

I've even managed to etch the firewall with a subtle homage to Kay Petre, who drove the sidevalve car in the works team, and after who I have named the cyclekart.

Most of the detailing is done to the body forward of the tail section, just need to get back on the lathe to turn a couple more bulges.

Still a lot of work to do, but I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, although she's going to be a bit of a porker, - all the jewellery is putting the pounds on........

Well things are looking good for Brooklands, the cyclekart finally moved today, both forwards and backwards.

Even though it's only about three feet it's a major step along the way, - just need to put the keyway into the back axle.

I don't think I will get a chance to do any further testing before Brooklands, but hopefully it might get to run there......
