A lovely bit of craftmanship Glynn. I am truly impressed at the high level of quality that the cyclekarts we see at events are built to.
If you can drive round corners, you're not going fast enough.

Very nice, I am shamed by the 12 months from drawing to (almost) finished cyclekart. It looks great, can't wait to see it in the flesh.

Glad to see the Panhard rod on the front axle, it validates the thought process I had been having for the last month or so, that just bolting one end of the spring hanger up tight, simply wasn't right on mine. Back to the drawing board.

Couple of new additions.  Just love my 3D printer.

After the AGM / Builders meet at Gaydon I realised that I needed to add some gearing to my steering.  Here's what I've come up with.
A 10 tooth pinion driving a 20 tooth internal ring gear, so 2:1 ratio.
Thanks for all the inspiration Stefan.

Another issue identified at Gaydon was engine cooling.  Here's my solution.
I'm also planning to make a duct to direct cooling air from the grill to the engine cooling fan inlet.

You have been busy.

Very neat 2:1 box solution, cutting those internal gears and keeping the necessary clearance may be a challenge! Are you going to have a go 3D printing it?

I also picked up on the steering load issue, but will keep it for a mk2 mod over winter months. I was thinking a chain and sprocket but wont be as compact as your solution.

Will also be interested in how you progress with the cooling issue - I have a way to go but was thinking of not closing the boat tail, although there are a number of rear profiles I could go for.

All the best.

Ian

Just finished my engine cooling duct.  Managed to come up with a design that allows me to get away with one adjustable mould tool.  By making it in 2 concentric halves I can adjust the width to fit between engine and body sidewall.

Lessons learned from Stretton 2023.
1. Don't underestimate the importance of the front suspension / steering geometry.
2. Don't underestimate the structural loads generated in the front suspension / steering, particularly when driving over the tyre wall !!
3. Throttle control needs to be smooth and positive through the full range.  Mine was not.

My front axle pivots were no where near strong enough, allowing the axles to move and eliminate all the toe-in.  Now have significant torsional bracing.
Twist in the front spring attachment had allowed the front axle to rotate, removing all the castor angle.  Additional control rods to the top of the axle now control the castor and facilitate fine adjustment.
A complete change of cable and linkages has sorted the throttle issues.
I've also added dampers to the front suspension, for authenticity not handling.  Many thanks to Mark for the laser cutting.

Roll on Star & Garter so I can have another go !!
