Hi all, well i have spent many hours in my shed recently and my kart is coming along quite well, some days you spend time working on your kart and not much progress seems to happen and some days things come together.
The accelerator and brake pedals involved a lot of head scratching i spent quite alot of time pondering how to make them, i wanted to make them adjustable so kids can drive the kart, so i came up with the idea of mounting the pedals on a seat runner, which i shortened, it gives me about 5 inches of movment forward and back , I ran cables for the throttle , then for the brake im useing a cbr600 front braking system, so i modified the brake lever on the master cylinder to allow me to connect a cable to it then ran the cable to the brake pedal .
The fuel tank has also worked out well, as it tucks in just in front of the pedals then the filler runs up to where the radiator cap would be, i made it from 3mm alliy , it holds about 2 ltr which should be plenty, .
It is not far away from its first test run so will have to dismantle it to get it out of my shed and garden then maybe take it to work and test it in the carpark there !!!, where im sure i will find some a few things which will need tweeking !!!!.
