Not directly progress on the build, but both the 3D printer and the new springs for the front suspension arrived today.

I test printed a Benchy, which was quite a good result, need to sort out some parts for one of the model boats next. It's a big printer, 400mm x 400mm x 450mm volume, so I'll be able to print the difficult body parts for my karts. Don't ask me to print anything YET, too much work on to do anything much before the middle of December.

Looking at 3d print files I found this: https://screenshots.firefox.com/ybwQKHvW5gPId0kp/www.ebay.co.uk. Started me thinking about using it on the Morgan, so I checked my photos and decided that it was a possibility. What I also noticed is that the Morgan steering tie rod is in front of the radiator, so I think a complete rework of the steering setup is due. That'll solve all the problems of the pedals fouling the steering, and give me more legroom.

Might yet go with the V twin, I really do like the look, and the main reason for going for the F series was the difficulty of making the engine. It'll be a while before I'm in a position to print one, as it'll take so long the printer will have to be in the studio before I can try it.

Right, some progress, not a lot, but as they say, every little helps. New steering tie rods done, made from 12mm 3mm wall aluminium tube, tapped M8 for the track rod ends. As I'm reworking it I decided to go for one rod from the pitman, and a link rod between the two steering arms, I can always change it if I want to.

At last some more progress, sorted out in my mind how to do the mods on the steering. I'm moving the pitman forward to just ahead of the support, but still behind the axle, then linking the wheels with a rod forward of the axle. I've made new steering arms, and cross pieces for the upright to axle holder, the whole lot will be welded together, and with the wider steering arms should be stiffer and more accurate.

I've also made a spring compressor, as the 30mm springs are stiffer than the 40mm ones, fitting them was a "bit difficult", and I prefer not to swear!

Yay progress, so looking forward to seeing this run without the leaning through the corners bit :-)

More or less sorted that with the change of springs, this is about taking out most if not all of the camber, and making more legroom.

Moving the steering forward and using go kart pedals should make space for me to drive it comfortably, and hopefully allow those taller than me to drive it. I've held off letting anyone else drive it until I'm confident it's safe, not because I don't want anyone else to have a go.

At the moment only Graham and Anton would fit!!

Nope, only just enough space for one of you at a time, that's why I didn't include Rhys, only those smaller than me would fit comfortably at the moment!!

It's been a long time since I made any progress, partly down to doubts about certain things on the kart, partly to do with health issues, both mine and Mams.

Health problems seem to have been resolved, mine entirely, Mams as much as they're going to be, considering she's 98.

One of the main doubts I had with the kart was the spongy. ineffective drum brake. I found myself wishing I'd gone for a disc braked one, so I did a bit of research, and realised I could fit a rear disc brake. So I've bought a wheel from another model of the same make, and I can use the caliper off the front of the scooter. I'll probably have to add a plate to the rear of the outboard bearing mount (bolt on swinging arm half), but that's easily done. The new wheel also has a drum, so I can use that for the handbrake.

Once that's sorted I'll get on with the front suspension and steering rework, not setting any firm target, let's just say Spring next year.

It would be good to see it out again Chris. Stay well, and remember the wee bottle :)

At long last I've made some progress on the Morgan F2 build, even if it is chopping bits off! Removed the fuel tank, and cut off the mounting, thus bringing the rear end down to below the line of the bodywork. The new fuel tank is just placed roughly in position in the last photo.

Well I managed to extract the Morgan from it's "temporary" resting place, without having to repair the expired mower. So it's now in the workshop, lubrication, mounting the fuel tank, and changing the wheels to 17" are the jobs needed before Westonzoyland next Wednesday. I'll be glad to at least give it a run out, even if I don't do much with it.
Still need to re-jig the steering to give more legroom, so that'll limit how much driving I can do.

Stage one done in preparation for a week today, swapped the 14" wheels for 17". Must say it looks a lot better, less "toy like".

Next stage mounting the petrol tank, then getting it running.
