The plan is to build a 1932 Vale Special replica. It will be based on Ian Connells that was raced at Brooklands and various Irish events.
Getting dimensions has been quite a challenge as these are a fairly rare car and there is not a lot of information out there for them.
It's working out at 3/4 scale, that gives me a track width of 38" and a wheelbase of 63" and has under slung suspension which should give it a nice low centre of gravity.
So far I have made a rough CAD drawing to see if the dimensions will work but this will be refined once I get more sizes of the full size car.

Nice car Moogie, the drawings look good too. It looks like you should get a good straight line for the track rods  :) , How much average steering angle are you getting on the wheels?
... You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead.

Not only an interesting and unusual choice, but it gives a good sized chunk of body behind the driver to hide the mechanicals. Looking forward to seeing this develop,

Peter

It’s listed in the pictorial guide in the section at the back for cars that there’s not much info about.  It’s also the only damaged page in my copy of the book….but in case it’s helpful…

According to my CAD drawing I should get about 35° hopefully.

Thanks Peter.

Stefan , now you have give me a dilemma ! Do I build it as standard with the spare wheel in the back or go the full race option.
Standard version would give me a little more room for the engine but the race version looks better and is more in keeping with Ian's car.  ???

Parts are slowly accumulating.  Just waiting for the chassis steel. Had to buy a 2500x1200 sheet of 1.5mm and get it cut up and folded to form a box section . Couldn't get any 3 x1 thin wall box in this country,  well I could,  if I bought 10 6m lengths ! 😡

It’s exciting when bits start arriving.   You’ll be on 4 wheels in no time.

Chassis production under way. As said earlier,  I had to make my own chassis  as you can't get sod all in this country ! 🤬

Also made a start on the front axle. 38mm cds and 6mm thick C hubs. Used Gemini Karts king pin housing & spacer set but added some bronze bushings. Just waiting for the stub axles from my local engineering shop.

Chassis tacked together and a quick mock up to see if the proportions are ok.
Is it just me or do other people sit and stare at the kart working out things in your head ?

Looking good Noel, and no, it's not just you. Staring at it, getting up off the sofa in the middle of a t.v. show and going to stare at it, waking up with new solutions for it after dreaming about it, stopping conversations mid sentence when something important and cycleKart related enters your head, and many other lapses I have been guilty of.
I am definitely not obsessed, ( ??? ) but now the build stage is at an end, I often wonder if it is just the beginning of more tinkering to get it better or I have to start another one to keep me interested.  ;D

I know that I have only just started to build my first cyclekart but I am already planning for my next.
These things are slightly addictive !
Just waiting for parts to arrive from the engineering shop before I can go any further,  can't wait to get it rolling under its own power.
