They look great Noel.  You're a dab hand on the graphics buddy.

I've not thought about this so it may be a really dumb question, is it possible to make the gauges work?  I was thinking more of the speedo than any of the others.
If you think you can do a thing, or you think you can't, you're right.

If you had a gear on the rear axle with a cable drive from that to the speedo,  I can't see why not. It would be a matter of getting the correct gear ratio to give the proper speed.

Or print a different scale to match whatever ratio you have.

Ive got a Honda Cub speedo for mine. Seeing as the bits that drive it have long been missing from my front wheels due to them no longer being mounted on a Honda Cub, I’m planning on driving it with a small electric motor, controlled by some sort of servo speed controller Ive yet to design. Maybe using an optical encoder system to derive a control signal from a front wheel’s actual rotation.

My strong suite is analogue electronics. Sadly this is a project that screams out for being done digital - ie programmed in software and run on some embedded processor such as a PiC which is so far into my personal boredom zone as to make it basically off limits. I hate programming. So I’ll go for less accurate but much less boring and do it in analogue.

I was contemplating one of the analogue GPS speedos (about £40 on Ebay) and revamping the dial. Some of the ones designed for marine applications are 0-80 MPH. they would need a separate power supply though. If I can find a cheaper option, or use something I already have I would go down that route. At the moment, if I need to know speed I can always mount my phone somewhere and use the DIGIHud App

It might be worth looking at an Arduino micro controller, they can take a digital input, and translate it to either an analogue output, a PWM output, or a stepper motor drive output.

The bodywork continues,  floor fitted and seat back cut out.

Now for the rear boot/barrel section. All I can say is that I'm glad that's now fitted,  it wasn't fun, lost count of how many times I had it on and off.

Air intake.  Made this about 20 years ago for my Skoda Estelle rally car.

Nice to reuse this on the cyclekart.

It will supply cold air to the engine fan and the brake disc.

Time for pedals, brakes and throttle linkages.
I didn't like the options available for throttle linkages, all too complicated so made my own simplified version.
Started out by removing the throttle shaft and drilling a 2.5mm hole into the end.

Then trapped it with a M3 tap.

Finally fitted a servo horn from an rc car.

And in the true style of cyclekart building I used a choke cable from an old Skoda to connect it to the pedal.

Pedals next.
Had a bit of a rummage around the garage to see what I could find to make pedals. Found a few bits of scrap steel, couple of 50x50mm box off cuts, some old lawnmower parts and a frame that I was able to get two lengths of 25mm box out of. After some cutting and welding I ended up with these.

Time to try out my new banjo fittings,  I'm glad to say everything went together perfectly with no leaks and it even gravity bled its self.
