Hi there,

Can i have No 55 as my race number please, thought as my membership No is 55 i may as well use this number, my car is no particular replica just my version of a pre-war race car,so should probably call it a Whitelock Special but that dosen't somehow seem right,

regards

I will assume that number 8 is still taken, so could I please have 8a for the Hudson.

Hi All,
I'm collecting parts to build a cyclekart inspired by the 1907 Wolseley-Siddeley 'Wolsit' Coppa Floria car raced by Mark Wild.  This car ran under the number 3B and finished 13th.
I have chosen this car as I need a car with a high seat height as I'm a wheelchair user following a motorcycle accident and I need to be able to transfer from my wheelchair to the car.  The car will have hand controls in addition to conventional pedals.
Early days in the project but I have wheels, engine, tav, reverse gearbox and front springs sourced and I have played around with the scale and ended up with a car 1780mm wheelbase and just under a meter width across wheels which gets the drivers seat to the right height for me.  This is on the large end of the cyclekart spec but these cars were big beasts in real life so it should look right when in the company of  the smaller sleeker later style cyclecars.  Due to the high centre of gravity and my own much too high weight the car will be more of a parade queen than a racer !

Number:  3B
Inspiration vehicle and year: 1907 Coppa Floria Woolseley
Your real name: Bob Pugh

That picture sold it to me, the archetypical English adventurer and his salt of the earth riding mechanic.  3B has gone but 3A is still going strong owned by Ken Prichard Jones and is still raced hard. Whilst there are only a couple of photo's of Mark Wild's car they are loads of modern shots of 3A which is a big help in studying the details.  I never knew but the original Wolseley factory was setup by Vickers and built the early cars in Crayford Kent. That factory was later turned over to make Vickers Maxim machine guns for WW1.  Apparently one Herbert Austin got his start in the industry in the Crayford factory as general manager before falling out with Vickers and opening his own works in Longbridge.

Thamesmud, I think that your car posts need to move to a place of their own instead of the Number register.

Ok I will start a build log, I only put the detail in as Stefan put "If there's a story behind why you've chosen the number, please do share it." in the opening post.
