Hi folks,
Your last event(s) have great influence on the outcome of the 2021 CycleKart World Championship.
Jim's #8 Dodge is currently a serious contender.
As far as I understand, Oct 26 is the British Club's last event.
That leaves the British at a 10 point deficit compared to to possible total points for the NW-USA and SW-USA regions, where the other championship contenders are from.
To even things out, I'd suggest you format the Oct 26 event in a way that you end up with 2 results.
Maybe a race and a time trial?
Each would be considered a separate event, and worth 10 CKWC points each.
With thing evened out, the Dodge's situation is very good, but it may still come down to The Corona between the Dodge and Dave Dupaquier's #3 Maserati from Washington.
The Maserati is the current world champion, and last year's Corona winner, but 2021 has not been as dominant for it. Dave Dupaquier has not yet done his Corona entry, and rumor is the Maserati is not 100% on power. To top that, there currently are already 3 cyclekarts in the 2021 Corona that have posted speeds higher than the speed that the Maserati won with last year when it was 100%. Dupaquier says he will post a Corona entry before the deadline, but its likely not to be a Top3 speed, so looks like nowhere near maximum points for him. (The 3 faster cyclekarts are from the NW-USA, but are not Championship contenders, they missed too mane events)
But all this to say that it is critical that Jim gets a Corona entry on the board.
I understand the Dodge is not a speed machine like some of the Corona top cyclekarts, but it may score a few points that may end up being just enough to overcome the Maserati's total points.
Its difficult to explain all the different mathematical possibilities for the outcome of the championship, but at this point the British #8 Dodge and the American #3 Maserati are the main Title contenders.
The chart below illustrates the situation.
For easier visualization of the points race situation, it already includes the points for the Corona, based on current positions in the race.
The math possibilities look in the favor of the Dodge, if there are 2 results from Oct26 plus a Corona entry.
If the Maserati really screws up the Corona or is not able to submit an entry at all, the Dodge may not even need a Corona entry, but there is no way to know that before Nov1 (the Corona finish).
So it would be a good idea for Jim to record and submit a Corona entry anyway, just to make sure.
My suggestion is find sometime to do it on Oct26. Dont leave it for later, its too close to Nov1.
Also, it does not have to be done on a straight road as everyone is doing. Of course, that the best type of road for reaching top speed, but if a long straight stretch is not available, use the Whilton Mill circuit. Just drive it for 30 seconds 1 direction, the turn around and come back the same way (no other cars on the circuit, of course!!!). It may not be the best speed but at least is an entry that may give just enough points to overcome the Maserati.
BTW, I'm mostly looking at the Dodge situation, but some of the other British cyclekarts can also benefit from doing the same and get into the Top 5 (maybe even win, but its realistically very unlikely).
Exciting finish to the CKWC ahead!!!
