Here's my cheap and cheerful solution, though I probably need less braking power with the reverse gearbox, I start in neutral, so there's no added push from the transmission.

The handbrake lever is from an original Mini, the only adjustment needed was to flatten out the right angle bend in the mounting bracket, and drill a new mounting bracket hole.

A small twisted bracket was attached to the rear mounting point, this hold the outer sleeve of a brake cable, and has a hole for the cable to pass through, and fit into the handbrake lever.

At the other end there's a bike brake caliper attached to the frame of the cyclekart,  it's enough to hold the cyclekart from rolling away.

Just arrived home, thanks again to all who organised, stewarded, catered and generally made it a great day out.

That's a shame Chris, let's hope it's not too serious.

I've just packed the cyclekart, probably needs a bit of fettling as the first thing I found when I moved it out into the sunlight was that the steering was extremely limited, but I have a file with me!

Hopefully see you all bright and early,

Stefan,

do you still have any of your shaped exhaust pipes, to fit the flanges you did? If so could you bring one tomorrow?

If the initial test run of the 7 doesn't end in disaster the first thing I have to do is narrow the tail by fitting a new exhaust and carburettor.

I've just had a delivery of epoxy resin and matting from Easy Composites too, for the tail section, and I used them for the epoxy for my nosecone and mould.

Seemed to be pretty  good on cost when I compared them to others,  and quick to process the orders.

Supercharged  Suzuki 600GSXR in the front

Lifan 212 in the back, but I promise to take the Suzuki out if it ever gets over 10mph.

Well things are looking good for Brooklands, the cyclekart finally moved today, both forwards and backwards.

Even though it's only about three feet it's a major step along the way, - just need to put the keyway into the back axle.

I don't think I will get a chance to do any further testing before Brooklands, but hopefully it might get to run there......

A bit more done on the cyclekart today, to try and get it ready to take to Brooklands, not sure if it will be driveable, but it does now have a throttle cable and transmission that works on blocks. Just need to bleed the brake and put keys in the rear end and it should be mobile.

The dummy supercharged Suzuki 600 is now done, removable when the bonnet is on,

all of the internals of the body parts are painted, with the outside of the body in primer, just need to get the tail made now, but that will have to wait a bit.

I've even managed to etch the firewall with a subtle homage to Kay Petre, who drove the sidevalve car in the works team, and after who I have named the cyclekart.

Most of the detailing is done to the body forward of the tail section, just need to get back on the lathe to turn a couple more bulges.

Still a lot of work to do, but I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, although she's going to be a bit of a porker, - all the jewellery is putting the pounds on........

Form request sent, I'm hoping to be there for the Saturday at least, but probably only with 3/4 of a show pony that might not run.

Definitely interested, saw the videos of this years event and thought it would be just up our street.

Another productive day on the cyclekart, the transmission is finally hooked up, and it appears to work, I now only need to connect a throttle cable and bleed the brakes to find out if it actually goes forwards and backwards when it's on the deck.

I also had a chance to play with the cheapo Chinese tachometer, though I doubt it was really doing 5000 revs......

The bonnet has also had a quick blast of primer, to highlight where it needs the odd smear of filler, so it's starting to come together at last.

Waiting for a new chain to connect the drive up, so I spent the holiday on more pointless weight addition to the cyclekart, but it really wouldn't look right without louvres, and curved ones at that
.
As I mentioned in a previous post, louvres in a plastic body don't really work, so cheating is the name of the game.

56 resin cast louvres later, the bonnet is now done, and I've just got to cut some of the side panel louvres down to fit around the blisters that are next on the list.

Given that this event has now been cancelled for the future, and that you all seemed to have had fun on the sand, could this be of interest for 2024??

Looks like a pretty eclectic mix, check out https://www.backfirepromotions.com/

Another good day on the cyclekart, this time working on the engines, yes, both of them.
The 600cc Suzuki in the front got a new carburettor and supercharger,

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

and was then treated to an exhaust pipe

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Although in reality it's a 3D print of half a microphone and an outboard motor carb, coupled to a shower valve and some vacuum cleaner pipe.....

So I thought it was time to stop fannying around and get the real one at the other end to turn over, and low and behold it kicked into life at the first attempt, much easier than I thought it would be.

Another step closer
