Build journals / Austin 7 Twin Cam
« on: 21 Dec 23, 04:05 pm »
Here we go again.  This time I'm building an Austin 7 Twin Cam based on the one I fell in love with at the National Motor Museum.  CAD design is pretty much finished and the chassis is fabricated.  I'm using a 212cc Chinese clone engine, Chinese clone torque converter with Juggernaut clutch, Chinese clone Mikuni VM22 carb., Chinese differential from an electric tricycle and Chinese 220mm hydraulic disk brake.  Chain is 219 with a ratio of 6.5:1.  Front suspension is transverse leaf spring.  All control rods are 10mm diameter with M8 rose joints.

Build journals / Morgan F4
« on: 11 Aug 23, 06:45 pm »
Ever since I started building the Austin I've had it in my head that a great Morgan could be built based on a Chinese scooter engine ( GY6 125cc ).
So a couple of months ago I had the chance of a good used engine / transmission and ended up buying it.  I've now completed the concept design and I'm busy building the chassis.  I'm planning to go full spaceframe chassis this time to save weight over my previous plywood body.  Many thanks to Chris Brown and Rhys Nolan for the information regarding the front suspension which helped me enormously.

Tech Forum / Mikuni Carb jetting
« on: 21 Jun 23, 09:15 am »
I'm experimenting with a Mikuni VM22 Chinese clone.  I know I need to fit a 12.5 pilot jet but cannot find the right type.  Can anyone tell me where to buy a pilot jet the same as the attached picture, the thread is M5.

Design Files / Austin 7 Hubcaps
« on: 10 Mar 23, 05:33 pm »
Here are the 3D print models for my Austin 7 Hubcaps.  They are moulded in 2 parts for a better quality part, front and rear.  I moulded them in PETG and then welded the halves together using PVC cement ( the stuff that plumbers use for plastic waste pipes ).

Tech Forum / Aluminium Forming

Does anybody have the capability to produce an aluminium half cone ?  I'm thinking of english wheel or possibly metal spinning.
I think I'm going to really struggle to make my rear cowling.  I can do it in fibreglass but would really like to be more authentic.
