Events / Re: Brooklands Relived 7 Aug 2021

I wasn't able to get to Brooklands due to other commitments but have found and enjoyed the video on Facebook. I can see that there are a lot of skilled participants and the results of their efforts look amazing. Hopefully there will be an event nearer to me in the Midlands so that I can get to see the real things and talk to their owners. I like the idea of an electric version of a cyclekart as that reflects the way the world should be going so if ever I get around to making one it might have to be modelled on the Le Jamais Contente of Camille Jenatzy though with its high centre of gravity it might not make for a very safe CK.

I have a lathe but i think i would struggle to make a 10m long sleeve 35mm ID and a wall thickness of just 1mm. I would like to know the technique.

Is it just the photograph that makes it look long? Add the tail and what will be the overall length when finished?

Hello Rhys, I noticed you were in Tamworth from your posts. It would be good to see what you are doing when your isolation ends. By the way I might have some resin laminating brushes if you would like them and I can find them amongst my collection of bits.

Thank you for accepting me on the CyclekartsGB forum. I am located in the Midlands near Tamworth and well into retirement but still have a keen interest in anything with motive power. I am of the generation whose first four wheel car was an Austin Seven and have an affinity for pre and some post war cars. It doesn't stop there but that is almost all that is relevant. In my last paid employment i was a technology technician in a secondary school and used my craft skills to support the school Greenpower F24 car which is not too dissimilar to a cyclekart but uses electric power. See greenpower.co.uk
Sorting some acquired magazines for sale at an upcoming local event I came across the article shown below. From an American magazine of 1965 it potentially is a forerunner for cyclekarts.
