Thank you for your comments fellas, all are duly noted and considered.

So the aluminium arrived today and I'm really excited for the weekend!

Thank you for the suggestion on rivet sizes Chris and Nick.  What size screws did you use Chris?

One thing that has been concerning me is water getting trapped between the timber tub and the aluminium skin, hence the reason for asking about gluing but the jury is still out atm.

Thanks once again.

Tim

Hey people, I need your help please.

I'm about to start the bodywork on my kart and have ordered the 1.2 x 8ft x 4ft sheet which arrives on Monday.

The main tub of the body is made from ply and I don't know if I should be glueing as well as screwing the aluminium to the ply?  If you guys have done that before what size screw did you use?

I'm also going to be riveting the Aluminium panels (not to the ply), any guidance on the rivet size I should be using?

Thanks in advance, any help is gratefully received

Tim

Finished the build of the grill yesterday.  It has been more of a challenge than I thought it would be with all the angles.  I did spend a lot of time on it though as quite often this is the first thing people look at and I wanted to make a good impression.  Still to be painted but I'm chuffed with the result so far.

Just a reminder folks...

We have the Northern Cyclekartistas Builders meet this coming Saturday 27th Jan from 10:30 in Bingley.

It'll be at my workshop (so we'll be warm...sort of) in Bingley, West Yorkshire.

All are welcome.  Bring questions, share your challenges, and come and be among friends talking Cyclekarts.

Yorkshire tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.  Directions will be sent once you let me know you are coming.  Bingley is easy to find...its the center of the universe.

Drop me a reply here or on the Northern Cyclekartistas WhatsApp group to let me know you are coming.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Tim

The second CycleKartGB Northern Builders Meet is scheduled for 10:30 on Saturday the 27th Jan.

If you have built a CycleKart, are building one, are about to start one, or just thinking about it, you are more than welcome to come along and talk all things CycleKarts.  I love CycleKarts, I can’t think of anything better to do than spend a few hours with you lot talking about them.

No risk of hypothermia this time as we will be undercover at my Workshop in Bingley, West Yorkshire (the posh end).  Coffee, Yorkshire Tea, cheap biscuits and dry humour will be provided.

Please let me know if you would like to come along by replying to this post or on the Northern CycleKartistas WhatsApp group.  Maps and directions will be sent nearer the time.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 27th.

Happy building

Tim
