Hi Max, if you have room to rotate the tav 180 degrees you will get chain clearance without removing any of the backing plate. There’s a picture of what I mean on page 6 of my build journal,MG Mtype

Good luck Nick

Hi Tim, you could use Evo-stick sticks like adhesive, behaves like silicone sealer but very strong bond & waterproof very flexible. I would use in conjunction with screws, rivets.

Hi Tim, Don't know if its the best but Gorilla glue glues aluminium to plywood. For your information you can rivet aluminium to plywood if you use flange rivets & washers on the blind side, the rivets should be 5-6 mm longer than the depth of the hole including washer e.g. rivet through aluminium then ply then washer. Tupperware toilets on building sites are riveted together using washers. PS love the pedals on your kart.

Thanks Stefan, engine cooling plates have been left alone, I’ll see how it goes with new vents cut in & modify further if needed, thinking about it the MG was running for most of the event probably longer than a normal race meet. Stefan at Whilton you told me of a material for friction dampers please remind me what it was.

Hi Rhys, thanks for your reply. Rhys I have ducting taking outside air to engine fan, also have outside air ducted to carburettor. I had not thought about fuel tank is it worth insulating with foil?

Thanks for the replies guys, I tried a fake filler cap it looked crap so I've  cut in some extra vents just under boot lid hope its enough, if not back to mesh or running without lid.
