I am in the process of doing away with the standard air box on my Lifan (Honda clone) and want to move the existing air cleaner element to side mounting, before I design and 3D print the final spacer I would like to know what others have used/ done ?

Just a quick question regarding engine horse power, does it have to be 6.5hp?

I was going to use the Lifan engine but the supplier only has a 7hp unit available, would I be able to use it or does it have to be 6.5hp?

Where to get stuff / Rear Wheel Hubs
« on: 28 Apr 21, 11:19 pm »
What have others used for their rear wheel to axle hubs, my axle is Ø25mm and I have been looking on the Gemini site but their hubs for that size of axle are clamp on units, the only proper type of hub unit is for Ø1".

StefanN - Would it be possible to start a new thread on Where to get Stuff with just a list of suppliers and brief description of what they sell, it would save having to trawl through articles and not find an answer.

To start -
Steel Suppliers - Rapid Metals (www.rapidmetals.co.uk) They stock a complete range of metals for collection or delivery.

Axle Springs - Midland Motor Springs - (www.midlandmotorsprings.com) Suppliers of front axle springs

Engines - Westbank Wholesale (www.westbankwholesale.co.uk) Suppliers of Lifan engines etc

You get the picture

Hi All,
I have now got quotes back from Midland Motor Springs at £50 each plus carriage plus vat

Rossendale Road Springs at £80 each plus carriage plus vat.

Midlands lead time is approx 4 weeks may be a bit longer as they are moving premises.

Just to clarify, how many leafs are there, one or two ? Would help if someone could post a picture of their springs from Midland Motor Springs.

Then I can produce a sketch and send off for quotes.

Hi Graham,

I have not read the constitution yet, but I thought you might be interested in a contact for sorting Club Insurance, in my other hobby of miniature traction engines we use a company called Walker Midgley who are part of the Towergate group, they provide the insurance cover for individuals or clubs who operate under an organisation, in our club's case the Northern Association of Model Engineering Societies  the contact is Martin Levers  see email link below.  I hope this is of use to you.

Thanks Stefan for the info, can you remember the  eyelet size for fixing to the chassis as I also want to send an enquiry to Rossendale Road Springs as well as Midland Motor Spring and get an uptodate price.

Chris, I will ask the question from both firms and will post information back here once I get it, but I do need to send them a sketch before they will quote.

Regards
Clive

I too have spoken to Midland Road Springs, however they did not really know what the spring was and asked for a drawing, can someone who has purchased springs from them provide a job number so as to make ordering a lot easier.

I have also spoken to Rossendale Road Springs who can make them to imperial measurements and require a sketch/drawing so what size hole is in the eyelet?
