I think pretty much everything has been tried - from stock Honda through to open pipe.  The later is probably too noisy for many venues.  I used perforated stainless mesh (from a new but damaged bike exhaust) inside a tube to make mine.

Hi
Welcome to cyclekarting!  What model Auto Union is it and what year is it from?   It's certainly very lovely.  There's lots of curves, so I guess it would depend on what skills and experience you've got in making body work.   There's some simplifications that could be applied to make it easier to make.

Off Topic / Re: Members Map

So we now have a map and you can register your location.  We can't tie it into the forum user profiles (trust me I've tried), but this gives us a working solution.

Choose the "Map" menu option and you can browse the map (obviously, it'll be pretty empty initially!).  Below the map is the map registration form.   Note, it won't update immediately, so if you enter your info, you might not appear on the map for a few days.

I have seen some forums show maps of forum users.  We use preconfigured and hosted forum software, so we're very limited in what we can add by way of maps etc.  We can fairly easily produce a map of club members (as opposed to forum users) but it would be a manual process.  Were you thinking of users (approx 400) or members (approx 40)?

CK number register / Re: Race Number Register
« on: 17 Sep 23, 03:27 pm »
I would like to register my 1932 Ford model Y Special with the number 4 please. No reason, This just hasn't been used yet.
All added to the register.

There's a good number of cyclekarts on the list.  I think there may be more that could be added.

Build journals / Build Journals - Please Check the Regs!
« on: 05 Sep 23, 08:46 pm »
The build journals are a fantastic resource for new cyclekart builders to get inspiration, technical tips and other ideas.

Please note, some cyclekarts that have journals here were built before the current set of rules and may only be eligible for CKGB events via the grandfather clause which does not apply to new cyclekart builds.  So, please start by reading the current regs and if in doubt, ask.

Yes, that's good timing, we got confirmation yesterday.  It's a static display event for us, and we have a prime spot.  The line-up of cars is sounding great.  There'll be an email out to members shortly.

Thanks Stefan - I have nothing like that regulator lever on my engine. The only linkages on the carb appear to be the throttle and choke. There's nothing coming out of the top of the crankcase. Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
Looks like your governor have been disconnected.   You might want to ask the guys you bought it off whether they removed the governor.

This shot at the start of this video shows the stock governor levers connected.

Build journals / Re: MG M type

Question, why do I need to fit a battery master cut off switch? I have a dash mounted engine kill installed, Happy to comply with rules & guidelines but battery switch will not kill engine.
Do not understand its necessity.
Cheers Nick
It reduces risks of dealing with electrical faults or fuel spills/leaks.

Hi Rich - I have the same engine so can you share some "how to" detail on removing the governor and changing the spring positions?
Joe, You’ll find lots of videos showing you how to remove the governor on YouTube.  It doesn’t matter which clone you’ve got.

You’ve already picked up on the drive ratio -  I would maximise that first.  Can you fit a 70T sprocket in?

The stock exhaust header cross sectional area is about 50-60% of the exhaust port on the head, and the stock silencer is quite restrictive.  I’ve had some flanges cut to match the exhaust port if you’re interested.  I’ll be at Brooklands on Sunday if you fancy a trip out and I can take one there.

I’ve been playing with the stock carb recently and have noticed it’s a very rough casting, so a bit of time cleaning that up should help (free).

Do check your brakes aren’t binding at all - it’s not that uncommon.
