Julie & I will be at Brooklands again this year.  We’re staying at the Chertsey campsite from Thursday to Monday.  Looking forward to it.

I’m planning to be at the AGM but not the shakedown.

I’ve discovered the local “Man Shed” and spent today making my bonnet structure.  So much easier when you have proper machinery at your disposal.

I use a combination of 50x25 and 25x25, both 1.5mm thick but it really depends on the design and how much contribution you get from the bodywork.

Thanks Jim,  I was a bit concerned that having payed for the campsite we may not be accepted, so appreciate your response.  Sounds like, thanks to all your hard work, we should have a great weekend.

Does that mean that 14 of us have been approved to participate ?  If so, why haven’t we been told ?

Hi Nick,
97 teeth, the biggest I could find.  Gives me a ratio of about 6.5:1.

Hi Jim,
The cup shaped part is made from the old hub from my steering wheel ( waste not want not ).  I welded the output shafts into the gears because, whilst splines shafts are available they are quite expensive, which kind of defeats the object of the exercise.

Very pleased with my cheap Chinese diff.  I’ve added some output shafts and carriers for the sprocket and brake disk.

Search on Aliexpress for “Electric Tricycle Differential”

Hi Jim,  Yes I have the diff, it cost me £15 from Aliexpress and is very robust.  Probably not quite as well built as the Peerless but adequate for our needs and significantly cheaper.

Build journals / Austin 7 Twin Cam
« on: 21 Dec 23, 04:05 pm »
Here we go again.  This time I'm building an Austin 7 Twin Cam based on the one I fell in love with at the National Motor Museum.  CAD design is pretty much finished and the chassis is fabricated.  I'm using a 212cc Chinese clone engine, Chinese clone torque converter with Juggernaut clutch, Chinese clone Mikuni VM22 carb., Chinese differential from an electric tricycle and Chinese 220mm hydraulic disk brake.  Chain is 219 with a ratio of 6.5:1.  Front suspension is transverse leaf spring.  All control rods are 10mm diameter with M8 rose joints.

My Austin 7 Ulster had its first outing at the CKGB AGM at Gaydon on 4th March 2023.  First competitive event was Stretton on 24th May.

Hi Stefan,
Do you have any flanges and tubes left ?  If you do I would like one of each please.
