I'm using the standard Gemini Kart spindle and yoke on a bespoke upright to my suspension. https://www.geminikarts.co.uk/product/cyclekart-front-axle/
16 degree KPI
6 degree castor
Akerman as per Gemini
and at the moment I have positive camber by about 1 degree. This is adjustable in my set up and the least of the worries with the shape of the tyres.
The whole shebang is set to 3mm toe in.

... All of this is yet to be fully proved.

Tech Forum / Safe-D-Speeder planetary gear?

Morning all,
what is the group think about using this... https://youtube.com/shorts/NeDLL8bByWY

In line in the steering column with a pitman arm steering set up to reduce effort. It has a four to one ratio so would give about one and a half turns lock to lock.
I do not intend to use this if the Pitman arm set up is to my liking when I manage to get some track time, but it is another option other than using a rack?
The Safe-D-Speeder was a thing before variable speed drills to use with masonry bits at lower speed and higher torque.
Answers and thoughts please.

Morning all, I have just been trawling the Sywell website trying to find mention of food availability at the venue, and, not a mention of consumables anywhere. As Mrs JimR1999 will not go anywhere without foreknowledge of the eating arrangements, can anyone with experience of this event give me an idea of availability of grub in the area around the campsite and at the event?

Looking good Noel, and no, it's not just you. Staring at it, getting up off the sofa in the middle of a t.v. show and going to stare at it, waking up with new solutions for it after dreaming about it, stopping conversations mid sentence when something important and cycleKart related enters your head, and many other lapses I have been guilty of.
I am definitely not obsessed, ( ??? ) but now the build stage is at an end, I often wonder if it is just the beginning of more tinkering to get it better or I have to start another one to keep me interested.  ;D

Sorry Chris, my bad I should have payed more attention to the rules. I was just looking at Bills profile and it had a Maserati V8R1 as inspiration car, which I believe had torsion bar suspension not dissimilar to the old 1930's Citroen traction avant hence the torsion bar links. I think the set up in the second video actually has a solid front axle mounted to the torsion bars via drop links in his future videos.
If you need the post removing I will gladly.

First trip out to a small car park in a private location of a club I am a member of. Not the wide open spaces I would prefer for a full test but enough to give me first impressions.
1. It takes off like a scalded cat.
2. The throttle response is good, but the amount of travel the pedal needs to actuate the throttle takes a light foot.
3. brakes need bedding in but can lock up the rear
4. turning circle is great
5. Steering could get a little heavy on the arms if I did a lot of turning
6. REMINDER TO SELF!!! Don't dab the accelerator and turn in, you lift the inside wheel too easily"
7. Fix the front grill your fat belly dislodged whilst unloading.  ::)
I am claiming this as a success, it was fun and informative. The seat works well for a bit of comfort and the springs coped with all the pot holes in the car park... Here is a bit of video footage of the ride...

Think I have sorted the engine out, touch wood, it is behaving. I have been corrected that what I thought was a jack staff is actually a flag staff due to its position on the vehicle. I got a small flag made from the logo file. if anyone has copyright and objects I will not use it.
All ready to tow now, a little testing tomorrow on a bit of land I have got permission for and Sywell next week. ;D

Are we adding our own cars or are you doing it en-mass Jim?

Yes Chris, I would appreciate measurements from anyone who went this route to see if it is viable. The width of the rails seems to be about right for track to allow a reasonable amount of wheel angle?

So, I have acquired this. I know exactly what you are thinking, and yes it was possibly just more junk but here it is. A frame from an aluminium scaffold staging rated to 250kg, 20" wide, 61" ish hook to hook, not twisted or dinged, fairly lightweight and possibly, just possibly adaptable to chassis material. Rails are about 3" by 2".
Semi elliptical springs on the front would give me the wheelbase or there-about.

It's time to employ group think. Let your thoughts run freely please, no such thing as a bad idea, they are just starting points for improvement.

Question.
What would you do with it and where would it lead you in terms of inspiration car?

Looks like a fine start Moogie
