This is how I square up my axles and set my toe in/out.
Forgot to add to the sheet that you need to mark a centre line on the box sections and another two lines about 50in apart.  This is where the strings attach.

The Triple Ton Morris Minor was £100/ 100mph/ 100mpg.
Would make a great cyclekart but might be a challenge in the body department.

Off Topic / Re: Helmets

I'm torn between something that looks period correct and something that will actually protect your head.
I come from a background of rallying so I'm used wearing a helmet. Even so, one accident I had while wearing a full face helmet, I was knocked unconscious and lost four hours of my memory, so head protection is not to bet taken lightly.
I suppose if a helmet is road legal it should be of good enough quality to do the job.

Is there any guidelines on the type of helmets to be used ? Open face, full face, British kite marked, Snell marked, etc.?
Can only find one reference to helmet quality regulations but it was a site you were going to, not the clubs requirements.

The Lifan arrived today !! now I can finalise the cross members etc.
Getting angle in the morning so I can make a start to the body work.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Strange how I can get an engine delivered from England cheaper that one from a 100 miles down the road. The joys of living in Northern Ireland  !
Would like a Honda but a Lifan will have to do for now, maybe get one for my next build.

Thanks, Tinworm.
Sorry for the messy garage,  I really do need to gut it out.
Cyclekart now stands on its own wheels, also got the hoops made and fitted to support the body.
Next big purchase will be an engine and sprocket. Anyone had any experience with the Lifan LF200E engines, are they worth buying?

Tech Forum / Re: Rules

I often wondered why the rules were never set up as 75% or 80% of the full size car you have selected,  a longer wheelbase would equal a heaver kart so there would be no advantage in picking a bigger car.

At last I have received my parts from the engineering shop. Hopefully I can make some progress now.
Rear hubs are based on the Renegade Cyclekarts design but changed to suit my needs.
Also got the rear axle threaded and a 6mm key cut.

Found a guide online listing sprocket diameters by chain size. Might be of use to someone.

Where to get stuff / Re: Tyres
« on: 20 Oct 22, 11:12 pm »
Sorry for opening an old post but the information it contains is still relevant.
What is the concensus on tyre width ? What has worked well for you, 2.50, 2.75, 3.00 ?
I have been looking at tyres, trying to find something that looks period correct. So far I have come up with Kenda K262 or Shinko SR241,  although both are trials tyres so might not last long on tarmac.
1st photo Kenda K262.
2nd photo Shinko SR241.
3rd photo 1935 Vale racing car.

Where to get stuff / Re: Rear Wheel Hubs
« on: 17 Oct 22, 07:02 pm »
Why not just use the kart hubs available everywhere and the Gemini adaptor plates at £2 odd?

Wouldn't life be boring if we all done the same thing ?

Thanks, Noel, that looks very helpful.
Mind if I ask how much a set of these is going to cost you, please?

Konrad, I don't know yet, I will get intouch when I get them. The guy I get to make them normally isn't too hard to pay.
