I had the very same problem, took a while to find the right size and thread, I bought a few longer ones if anyone needs one, I’ve got spares

That was really good advice Rhys, Thankyou. As a result  I stripped off the cover, removed the ignition pack and blew everything down with an airline. I hadn’t thought about the magnet, it had indeed picked up some swarf and iron dust . I’ve now put back it together and new fuel line installed.

With Stretton a few days off it’s time to make some improvements, first is a grill in the back end to get rid of heat from the engine. This should make big difference and doesn’t spoil the looks.
I need to mod the exhaust so it blows out rather than into the engine bay. Just need to extend and bend the pipe.
Next the fuel pipe. When it comes out of the tank it kind of gets trapped between the casing that covers the pull start etc.
I’ve put a 25mm hole in the casing and fitted a large grommet. The new fuel pipe ( rubber, ethanol proofed) will go through it

I would not suggest making up a “Glazing coat” !
fibreglass your piece, let it set then screed it with an easy sand car bodyfiller.
Then sand it down when it’s set. Anything gelcoat or resin with be much harder to sand down
This kind of stuff is what you want to use

Correct Chris. If anyone has any questions regarding fibreglass and polyester resin then just post here. I have been using on a daily basis for the last 40 years 😳🤖

I’m running a sliding rail on mine like Stefan’s. I had no real problems getting enough tension after I removed links in the chain. If the studs on the underside of the engine are long enough you could pack them up with washers to raise the engine that would do the same job

Not sure what this car was based on but it’s a simple body design.
I like the overall look
There are no problems with cooling the engine.
It’s nice and low which helps the c of g.
It would be quite easy to make in any garage/ workshop

Yes welcome Graham senior. We are all keen for a trip to brooklands. I’m imagining if we can’t drive them on the track it would be good to at least put them on the track and get a big group photograph.

Guys..... it’s 2019, why on earth would anyone use a stick welder? Mig welders are cheap as chips and are so much easier to use. My advice ... bin the stick
