Hey all,
So I did an engineering apprenticeship when I left school and loved every moment of it. Im an engineer at heart even if I’m now in NHS middle management hell! I’ve wanted to build my own car (cobra replica) since I was a teenager, but with the costs going up, 3x kids at home and other priorities- I can’t see that happening this side of retirement.

So until then, why not combine my love of building things, driving too fast and mildly competitive attitude - and keep the budget in check; mostly!

Just need to find “the one” to base a design on/around. A good excuse to rewatch some Goodwood prewar events on YouTube 👍

I’m based near Brighton, Sussex

Hi Mac!

Welcome! There’s a few of us based in sussex- I’m more or less probably just north of you near East Grinstead. Ive spent very nearly 2 years now on my White Riley, but have yet to actually get it running. Welll… roughly the first 3 months getting about 85% of it done, and then the rest of the time juggling work, looking after a newly arrived small person (with a second arriving next month) and very slowly finishing the final 15% of it…. It’s at the final glassing, filling and priming stage. Painting should start in about 2 weeks, with the final bits of welding (engine mounting plate) happening at the same time.

If you’d like to pop up and take a look, you’re more than welcome. Maybe it will help prevent you from repeating some of my own blind alley moments… ;c)

Cheers!
Rich.
