Bonora radiator/fuel cap.
« on: 12 Feb 23, 08:24 pm »
On the Vale i am building they used the Bonora caps on the radiator and also as a fuel cap. They were also used on MGs, Riley's, Morris' ect, of the 1930s.

As reproduction caps are around £130 I thought I would have a go at making my own. A few hours later I had it drawn up on Fusion 360.

Its going to take a bit of time to 3d print it all , so started with a smaller part, the top lever.

I can put the STLs up on Thingiverse if anyone is wanting to 3D their own parts. Although it will be the weekend before I can add them.
Will post here when I do.

Looks great Noel.

I’d love to know more about your 3D printing set-up (perhaps in a separate thread under “technical”).  The surface finish looks really good.

As always,  3D prints required some finishing,  so after a light coat of filler and some black paint it will be finished of with some chrome spray i found at the local auto parts store.  Not sure how it will turn out but its worth a try.
