Irony?
« on: 16 Feb 22, 09:26 am »
With the Darracq which Wes Raynor built and I spent a lot of time and effort to make usable currently on a Brightwells auction, today I received an email from a guy in NZ who had purchased a car and wanted to know anything. It's my first Cyclekart started in about 2003, then finished (if they ever are) a couple of years later.
I'm so pleased that it has turned up, and at the right time for the newly formed Cyclekarts NZ group. The Bentley Speed Six has also come to light!

I notice that the Darracq is listed as a 'Child's car' and 'scale model'. We clearly have an image problem :-))

You should have seen the listing before I contacted them!!!It was full of BS given them by the vendor.
They said it would sell for more as a "Child's car" and refused to change it.

Oh dear. I think the buyer may be disappointed unless they have a very big child.

I understand it's unlikely to sell as the reserve is quite a long way away from current bidding. Unrealistic I believe.

We have similar issues in miniature railways. It's usually folk who don't fully understand what they have, give false impressions in the description and, having seen an immaculate example of something similar, have over inflated expectations.
As a friend of mine says 'there's no cure for stupid'.
