Thanks Rhys. I'll speak to the Circuit.

I just don't want CKs to jeopardise the use of venue possibilities, or Stretton who have been so supportive.
We must avoid torturing our brains with false problems, it occupies but it can annoy. In jest!

Adding a Fish Tail can help reduce noise. I have used a fish tail hot air nozzle from a paint stripping gun and noticed a difference. Very cheap on ebay.

If you can drive round corners, you're not going fast enough.

I've spoken with Stretton Circuit . They are currently in consultation with a neighbouring property with respect to unacceptable noise levels..
Noise limit currently therefore at the circuit is a strict 105dB static test. Straight pipes I suspect will not comply. I will retrofit my standard silencer for the day. Thanks.

I’d just like to say, with the perspective of a tinnitus suffering, long term exposure to high SPL noise induced hearing loss sort of chap, that 105 dB is SH*TTINGLY LOUD as us audio professionals would put it. I was a roadie for 10 years, and for the ten years before that I was the Turn out front, and I have completely sh*gged my ears… which sucks, I can tell you.

To be honest; 95 dB is also WAY TOO LOUD DUDE TURN IT DOWN for any length of time more than about a minute or two.
And considering that dBs are a logarithmic scale, every 3dB (or 6dB depending on scaling/units) increase is a perceived doubling in loudness, 105 dB is not just ‘a teeny bit over 85, or 95…’ it is REALLY REALLY WOW DANGEROUS LOUD.

From my (somewhat damaged already) point of view- forget performance. I just want to still be able to enjoy listening to awful 1970s prog rock on the stereo in 10 years time without having to inflict it on the neighbours too. Mine will have a quiet muffler, ta.

I’d just like to add-
I regularly used to work most days of the week, for extended periods, at levels that were averaging 115 to 131 dB (A weighted) which is wholly illegal in most parts of the world where The Worlds Loudest Band (Tm) who I worked for regularly played.
We would wear our in-ear monitors (with built in -33dB reduction) underneath -30 dB shooting cans over the top of them. Yay….
All it took was five seconds of 115dB from a 15 watt Vox ac15 guitar amp, right in my right ear from 1 metre away without protection because I was tracking down a hum and that’s my enjoyment of stereo gone for life. It has not recovered, and almost every second of every day is now accompanied by wierd howling, ringing, humming noises (tinnitus). I can’t hear most conversations held with normal people at normal volumes…
Once, about 2 years ago my damaged ear popped for a second and I got about 30 seconds of pure, unadulterated binaural hearing back and it was so amazing it made me cry.
Hearing loss is not a joke, and at high Sound Pressure Levels, it is an ever present danger. It only takes a few seconds, and that’s it gone. Haha no oops bugger….

I’ll be wearing ear plugs under my helmet, and fitting a boring levels silencer to my Riley, no matter what it does to performance..Them’s my reasons, and I’m sticking to em…

My Renault has always be considered to be too loud. It was measured by Rhys a while ago and was about 105 dB.
It had a straight-through tuned pipe and no silencer. I have however fitted a silencer to it (from the GX Performance Centre) which is designed for racing Go-Karts specifically to meet their regulations.  Hopefully it will comply now.

Just in case anyone wanted to do "as they did" this is copied from the Brooklands rules.

Did you order the baffled silencer or the unbaffled one.  I ordered the unbaffled one by mistake and it’s still pretty loud so I was going to add some baffles myself to see if it will help.

I ordered the none baffled one, because at the time it was the only one they offered...
And yes it make no discernible difference!
However they have on Ebay baffles to go in moped exhausts you can add, they come
in a lot of different sizes. I just havn't had a chance to experiment myself yet.
