Lifan lf200e wiring.
« on: 28 Jan 23, 10:26 pm »
Has anyone any experience with the Lifan electric start engines .
I repair lawnmowers and have previously worked for 10 years as a automatic door engineer so I am fairly familiar with electrical wiring.
Now, the problem i am having is that I cannot get my head around the way the ignition of the lifan engine is wired.
Normally a lawnmower key switch in the off position has two terminals which are NC , which earths the engine spark.
Then when in the run position another pair of terminals will close allowing the power to flow to the coil.
Start position allows power to flow to the starter solenoid . There is also an auxiliary position for lights ect.

On the lifan switch I can get the pair of contracts which kills the engine spark but that's it ! In any other key position all the contracts are NO.

In the photo contact 1 and 2 are NC when key is off, kill circuit.
Number 3 is the rectifier,  I think !
Number 4, yellow cable is going to the low oil switch ??? Surely this can't be right.

Oh, the reason for all of this is because I want to put the switch up on the dash but I want to use a lawnmower type switch so that I have extra contacts for auxiliary items.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The older I get, the faster I was !

I'm not a genius in this area, very far from it Noel.
Having messed around with the CDI kit though, one line in your post stood out referring to a lawnmower.
"Then when in the run position another pair of terminals will close allowing the power to flow to the coil."

The coil as standard is self energising and does not have a feed from a battery, same on all the non electric start ones I have seen. The kill switch is open to run, closed to earth out the spark and that is it as far as I can see.
Don't know if this helps.

... You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead.

Sorry Jim, was thinking of my Wheel Horse when writing this,  it does have a coil, same as a car.
Thanks for the wiring diagram,  thats much better than anything else I've found.
