Track rod/chassis interference
« on: 20 Apr 19, 10:01 am »
The other day Graham and I were talking about the above. The suggestion was that a many have the rear axle passing through the chassis rail, that dictates the height of the chassis in relation to the front stub axle, and dictates where the track rods run.
The more I think about this, the more convinced I am that this does not have to influence where the track rod runs.
I have had mine between the chassis and spring, over the top of the chassis, and of course in the ones that don't use "cart type" front springs they can go anywhere.
in my thinking, the ONLY thing that says whether you have interference is where the steering arm on the spindle is. There is no reason at all why it can't be on the very bottom of the yoke, the top, in between or cranked to miss everything.
We must avoid torturing our brains with false problems, it occupies but it can annoy. In jest!
