Good call Noel, I have just emailed them for a cost for shipping a pair, price of the item is about £75 so should be cost effective!

Hey Ian, sorry for late response.

I used the drawing that Noel posted and sent it straight to Kevin.

I haven't had chance to fit them yet and as this is my first Cyclekart I'm not sure what to expect as far as spec.

Hope that helps.

Hi all. Apologies for not posting for some time.

Historically we have made various enquiries in an effort to secure leaf springs at a better price in the UK. I am pleased to see that progress is currently being made with Jones Springs and Renegade Karts.

Mark Underdown has been working away in the background to develop a jig and manufacture suitable springs at his workshop and he has now found a subcontractor who can provide the heat treatment.
I was in contact with Mark yesterday and he states :

"They are going to work out at £45 each (£90 per pair) after the first batch I will have a better idea on prices, the biggest question mark is wastage of material.

Hopefully I will be able to produce them reliably without too much in the scrap bin.

I will have a batch done by the AGM hopefully around 5-7 pairs.   After that we can just see who wants them and when. "

I'm making everybody aware of Mark's kind offer before anyone commits to a large order elsewhere.

That sounds a very reasonable price, I'll take a pair ready for the Renault, saves me making a jig to play with composite springs.

Hi Graham and All,
Just closing the loop with the contact I made with Jones Spring.
They can provide a spring to the drawing supplied @£75 +Vat per
That includes bushes drilled and reamed to 12mm.
If anyone wants to go down this route the contact is Kevin,
The phone number is 0121 568 7575, delivery is around 7 to 10 days.
Renegade Karts haven't come back to me regards postage to the UK.
Looks like there are now have some UK options.
Regards
Ian

That's great. Thanks Ian.
Chris and I will be reviewing the latest position on the availability of springs, wheels and all other components during the Builders'  Meet at the upcoming AGM. Please let me know if you receive anything back from Renegade.

I was but an apprentice!   It was fun though.  Full credit to Mark for the jigs he’s designed and made to help form the spring eyes.
