Thanks Jim & Nick.

Nick - any idea what the nearest Dulux Weathershield colour is to the one you mentioned? I'm planning to use a small roller to paint it.

Warm dry weather so more progress! Slow and laborious because I'm making it up as I go along.

At least it is now possible to see what the final shape will look like.

Fingers crossed for more fine weather.

The build is back on! A few days of decent weather and some significant progress. The frame for the body tub and bonnet is finished

So this is now ready for skinning with aluminium. Three sheets on order and should be available for collection on Wednesday. Then all I need is a few more dry days and I can get the body finished - finally.

The next step, one the body is fitted and trimmed, is to strip it all back to the the last nut and bolt, give it a decent paint job and then rebuild.

All dependent on the weather!!!

Hi Chris - PM please.

For sale and wanted / Alfa Romeo P2 - Needs Finishing

The terrible weather this last winter means I am months behind where I wanted to be so I'm open to serious/sensible offers if anyone would like to take over where I've left off.

There's lots of information and photos on my build journal

https://cyclekartsgb.createaforum.com/build-journals/mg-pa-re-build/

The kart needs 3 sheets of aluminium to finish the cockpit tub and fabricate the bonnet. After that it's just fettling and finishing the assembly.

I'll include the trailer and even the portable Clarke shed it lives in.

All the difficult stuff has been done so if you want to get going quickly please get in touch by PM.

Thanks

Joe

Welcome Dave. You'll find the forum a great place to get all the knowledge and ideas you need. I first met the CK guys at Brooklands last year - here's my journey so far https://cyclekartsgb.createaforum.com/build-journals/mg-pa-re-build/

Stalled at the moment thanks to the awful winter we've had.

Look out for my PM.

Good luck.

Still under construction I'm afraid.

A bit more progress. The 5mm rod has been shaped and welded to the tub frame...

This frame outlines the final shape of the cockpit

Next step is to bite the bullet, buy some alloy sheet and shape it to the tub.

The lower parts for the bonnet have been fabricated and await louvres (when I work out the best way to do it). The photo also shows the chassis front cover plate.

More alloy sheet needed to fabricate the bonnet now.

The engine cover is finished

So some progress but I'm months behind where I wanted to be by now all thanks to the filthy weather we've been having.

This is the exhaust more or less finished...

Not very pretty but it seems to work. I made it from a modified clone muffler box (thanks Stefan), copper bends and some scrap steel pipe. The exhaust manifold is one of Stefan's.

Here's the rear end with what I hope is the final coat of resin before getting a coat of primer....

[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

There is a layer of GF mat on either side of the mesh. After dealing with the many flaws I rollered resin onto the outside to produce an even-ish surface for painting. It won't be a "concours" finish but more along the lines of what bodywork might have looked like after a combative Mile Miglia on 1920's roads  ;D

Some progress on the exhaust using copper pipe bends.

This combination gives the ideal bend to take the pipe down the side of the engine.

Crossroads is a Chef & Brewer and does B&B. About £75 for B&B.

Narrowboat - will do B&B. The room cost will be £60 plus breakfast which starts at £7.50 depending on what's wanted.

So nothing in it cost wise.

Would anyone be interested in staying the Friday night and any preference on accommodation?

Does anyone fancy staying over the night before at a cheap hotel or B&B and getting together for a meal & a pint in the evening?

If you know the area can yo suggest a suitable hotel/B&B/pub? A pub that does B&B would be ideal!  ;D
