Tech Forum / Petrol vaporisation and overheating
« on: 20 Aug 25, 03:29 pm »
After a lot of problems with overheating causing petrol vaporisation,  i think I have it cured. An aluminium heat sink/shield sandwiched between the manifold and carb insulator. It seemed to work last weekend and the engine ran without fault.

I have had massive overheating issues this year with the high temps we have been having. I put a large scoop on the side which helped but didn't fully cure it. I have however solved it without the need for electric fans. I will put up a post shortly.

I really should use the forum more ! late to the party as usual but I am in for whatever, we can offer a venue with camping for social events if required.

Cheers Tim

Race bikes use braided steel brake hose, i would suggest the source is the problem rather than braided hose. I took Jays out the bin to dissect and inspect. It was bloody hot, caused all sorts of problems especially with carburation.

CKGB Club / **** Power menu important update ****
« on: 07 Apr 25, 06:27 pm »
                                                                      Power menu update

1.   There is a typo on the current Power Menu. Could you please amend the points value for Non-variable ignition advance from 5 to 2
and recalculate your power menu to reflect this.

2.   Following the AGM the committee have taken into consideration your views, after lengthy discussion we have decided to allow billet
flywheels over 1kg. Those under 1kg are still not to be used. Points may be changed for alternative flywheels in the power menu
review at the end of the season.

3.   Flywheel power menu points
        Cast aluminium                       2 points
Billet aluminium over 1Kg        4 points

4.      New power menu and declaration form attached to original post at the top.

Scotty just use a standard kart type steering set up, the thing is supposed to be a caricature of the original. Don't incur extra unnecessary expense . Simplicity is more reliable

Acetone smoothing only works on ABS, with PLA or PETG you are using filler of some sort and wet n dry. When you have adhesion issues with the bed use cheap hair spray.

As can be seen by the wear pattern on the rear tyre, the inside rear wheel isn't making much contact with the ground. The outside of the tyre is well scrubbed and the inside still has the pips on !
