Build journals / Re: Bentley

Hi All, really enjoyed the Brooklands week end. It was good to chat with a few members and take a look at the cyclekarts up close. Thought I would upload some progress on the Bentley build. An upcycled canoe seems it could work for parts of the bodywork. Cheers

Hi all, just thought I'd check that my wheelbase is OK before I commence with the build. Mentioned in the regs it states 1675mm or near to. I'm coming in at 1700mm due to my front end design, hope that's alright....
Cheers

CK register / Re: Race Number Register

Hi All, just wondering if my post on a race number got to the right place as I've not had any response yet. I'm hopeless with tech. Cheers Viking68

Build journals / Honda 90 wheels
« on: 25 Apr 24, 10:04 am »
Hi all, have any members had issues with new wheels? The gemini hub adaptors don't fit.... New wheels have 60mm centre to centre stud holes and the gemini adaptors are 73mm centre to centre. Just thought I'd mention it so anyone else doesn't have the same issue. Looks like the hubs may differ to older models. Think I will have to try a bespoke alternative. The kart seems to be taking ages.... Still waiting for the eaf springs to be made.... Been 5 weeks! Ah well, just have to be patient.
Cheers all.

CK register / Race car number

Hi All, may I request number 113 for my 1936 Bentley Derby boatail (under construction *) please. The number was never used on the chassis run, to avoid upsetting superstitious customers, crazy eh. Being an ex Bentley owner and born and bred in Derbyshire seemed appropriate for the build. Many thanks for the helpful comments on the tech stuff,
Cheers Viking68

Build journals / Ground clearance
« on: 28 Mar 24, 02:01 pm »
Hi all, what is the recommended ground clearance from the bottom of the front axle mounts? 100mm looks quite common although my chassis sits at about 75mm of my dwawing. This is due to the arch I've had bent for my chassis over the front axle. If 100mm is required then I would have to mount my leaf springs on the side, like the Buggati set up. Any input would be appreciated, cheers...

Tough going with Mr grinder, but got there in the end. Also with a quick release dooins and finished with a piece of scrap brass. Decided on a twine wrap for that vintage look. Cheers all.

Tech Forum / Chassis frame and leaf springs
« on: 24 Jan 24, 10:24 pm »
Hi all, many thanks for the engine info. Would 60x30 rectangular box section suffice for a chassis. Also is there a preferred camber height for the leaf springs?
Regards

Hi All, thank you for the welcome to the cyclekart world. I'm an upcycler and creator with a fascination for this new hobby. Just purchased my engine and now about to order materials for my frame. Kind regards, Viking68.
