Tech Forum / Re: Lessons Learned - Safety

This was my first season of CycleKarts, and I have a few entries in my log book. A couple were things coming loose, such as the headlights on their struts. Two main issues, one of which was my inexperience in welding was the welding I did joining the quick release boss to the steering column. I used tubing and took off to much weld to make the column look pretty. To be suddenly driving along and realising the kart is not going in the direction of the wheel inputs is a strange feeling. I was lucky in that it’s a low speed sport, and there were no other karts that I could have collided with. I fixed by adding bar with both ends ground into a flat wedge and fully filling with weld. The second issue I had was one of the rear wheels moved inwards towards the body on the rear axle, very close to the kart body. I purchased solid shaft collars from Gemini Karts. I don’t think they are suitable for this application, so I have now replaced with 25mm heavy duty split collars. I do recall advice on this when I was midway through my build last winter, so lesson learnt, it pays to listen to others experience’s and advice.

For sale and wanted / Re: Cyclekart for sale
« on: 17 Sep 25, 07:41 pm »
Great news for me that I have found some storage for my kart and trailer. A company in the county reached out with a great and reasonable price (West Cotswold car storage) to store my kart at their indoors facility. Thanks for all the offers to purchase and the kind offers of storage from CKGB members, but thankfully I will not be selling.

For sale and wanted / Cyclekart for sale
« on: 16 Sep 25, 07:08 am »
Just looking at some options as I am moving house in about 6  to 8 weeks. As the new house doesn’t have a garage until I get it built, and the cost of storage is high. I am exploring if I can sale my kart and then build a new one in the future. The inspiration car is a 1932 Aston Martin, and can sale the trailer with the car if needed. Kart is registered with CKGB as built and running. PM me if interested.

Hi JimR,
I have paid the entry fee, but not sure if my kart would still be classed as a part build.
All the panels are on and secured, just need to paint them and build a bonnet. (If I can get time from work).
I think the kart is drivable, but haven't tested it yet, this is my first build so a big learning curve for me.
I live locally, about 3 miles away, anyone know if it would be safe to leave my kart and trailer over night, as I don't need to camp?

Build journals / Re: 1932 Aston Martin LE Mans 'LM8'

Finally starting to look like a Cyclekart I hope!.
I dont think I will have all the panels complete by Malvern, but should be drivable if all good within the rules.
Billet flywheel fitted, replaced with a aluminium one, then refitted after rule changes :)
