FunBikes are selling 17" front wheels without tyres for £26.40 each atm which seams cheaper than anywhere else. I am in the process of getting a set myself and already have a design for some 25mm axle adaptors which could be machined on a cnc lathe. These possibly will have a sliding dog mechanism so the driven side can be changed or no drive/both driven ect.

Oh I’m interested to know more about the axle adaptor.  GN’s used a dog drive on the wheel hub if I remember correctly.

Jim,
Is that just the rim or complete wheel with hub and spokes for £26.40?

Steve, When I spoke to them on the phone and got them to check they said it was the complete wheel, just no tyre or tube. Seems like a good deal as you'll probably change the tyres from the knobbly off roads ones that generally come with these wheels. Mine should be here tomorrow but I am away till Sunday so I can't confirm what turns up till then.

Sounds good Jim, thanks.
Grateful if you’d let me know what you receive and any likely complications in fitting them.

I'm not sure what colour spokes will come. If any at all. They are arriving later today.

Keep going down the list Chris, I think these are the ones Jim was referring to: https://www.funbikes.co.uk/p10566_m2r-kmxr-125-pit-bike-front-17-rim.

Hi again Jim,
Look good - any problems to use these apart from a bearing change (readily available bearings that is)

I’ve been using mine for a couple of years now.

Spokes were loose so needed tightening.
Had to relieve some of the casting for a 25mm axle to clear through

Other than that they’ve been good.

Thanks for the tip off Stefan, I will check the spokes torque before I put some rubber on. What did you torque them to Stefan? I have booked today off work and have a reporter coming round to interview me about CKs. I may set one wheel up for the photo's, mention the mod for the axle and that we check spokes for safety reasons.

What did you torque them to Stefan?

Hmmm will have to look that up - about Bb…although in hindsight that was an unfortunate choice.   Quite a few on mine simply had almost no tension in them at all.

Will check in the garage later.

Hi Stephan,
I’ve just ordered a set, so also interested in spoke tightening torque.

This thread on CKC talks about 48 inch lbs for CT90 wheels https://www.cyclekartclub.com/forum/cyclekart-tech-forum.2/wheels-and-spokes.46301/

I don't have a proper spoke torque wrench so its very much an estimate, but I think my pit bike wheel spoke nipples are at about 1.6Nm (14 in lbs - 2kg pulling at 8.25cm in case I've got the maths wrong!)  .  This is tighter than they were when I got them, and so long as I check them, I've not had any more problems.
