Looking good so far Jim. I tried a recoil start inside the wasp but got fed up with bashing hands elbows on steering wheel & everything else. Didn’t think to put it outboard,😀 Probably steel that idea for the Monoposto.

Thanks Mark, the only reason I’m asking this is that secondary cables are required according to handbook, I was hoping that in using a much heavier duty cable I wouldn’t need secondary cables.

My new build will be trialling out mechanical brakes, it will have twin rotors,cable operated.
The cable I have in mind is of a boat winch rated at 2000 kilos.Do I need to use secondary cables with something this strong.

Hi Rhys, I think you’re right about materials, I made a trophy out of damaged parts for the Southwest group. I was shocked at how easy it was to cut through the crankshaft. On inspection the camshaft appears to have partially sheared & then sheared completely.I did wonder if 18 lb valve springs also contributed to its downfall .

Hi Rhys, mine was the metal camshaft.see picture above in this post. I think part of the problem is a lack of bushing on the cam, it simply fits into an aluminium hole in the crankcase. Poor engineering in my opinion.

Another one possibly is going to be an MG Q Type monoposto. This is the nosecone made from fibreglass.
