Where to get stuff / Re: Torque Convertor
« on: 18 Sep 25, 05:03 pm »
I have Comet on both of mine.

The backplate for the clutch on GNasher **** at the weld, then shifted leaving a sharp edge which shredded the belt  ;D  However, replaced by Comet FOC.

At Whilton on Monday, after three years of hard use, the shaft for the driven assy on Jane sheared!!

Consequently, I dont think the extra cost reflects greater quality or reliability.

Sorry to hear that after 3 years your shaft on Jane has broken.

I was thinking of taking a gazebo but im not sure with the wind. Lol
Jay, There are stainless anchor points in the pits tarmac for gazebos.

Scotty, try GX tuning for valve springs. Is your 212 a hemi head? I don't think the springs are the same as the standard head and hemi tuning stuff is difficult to get in the uk.

Andy, you gorgeous vision of loveliness, I have paid the balance for myself and wreckit.   Do you think it will be appropriate to bring some kart stuff to sell? I am hoping to bring some 25mm axle bits like wheel hubs and brake/sprocket carriers. Maybe an engine or two, which are good runners as I wouldn't sell Smokey Rattily ones to other members. I have some of those old cyclekarts uk bits I could bring like pedals ect. Also some other old detritus that's kicking about the garage.
I will be there Monday morning, not going to camp unfortunately.

Andy, can you put me down for two drivers. Not sure who yet and not sure if there will be two karts. I'll send you the deposit for the extra. Also I will order the helmet intercom this week so we can chat loads of BS while driving.

Paid and registered. Surprisingly easy, links work well. I shall go Sunday afternoon so I can get a Pit space overlooking the track and set up my gazebo ect. If there are enough people going Sunday it might be worth me taking a BBQ.

It was so much fun driving round and I'm glad the video came out so well. I wasn't at the ragged edge because the course is so enjoyable just keeping smooth lines. I'm looking forward to having a whole day there in September, It's gonna be Awsome.

Andy and I were lucky enough to try the different circuits at Whilton Mill yesterday and did quite a few laps. It was a great experience and probably the best track I've driven my Cyclekart on. It's a circuit that will give drivers a chance to really get to know their machines and a feeling of euphoric joy while driving what they've built.
The corners are flowing (even the tighter ones) and it doesn't put too much strain on the CK or driver.
The Straight are just long enough to build a bit of speed with good visibility of where to brake for the approaching turns.
There's plenty of run off if braking is a bit late but the track has loads of grip and it's easy to slow down.
I'ts a very smooth surface and i didn't get bumped about in the cockpit at all.
The pits are smooth tarmac with anchor points for anyone wanting to take a gazebo. This makes for a nice environment
if you have to tinker with your CK.
I can only recommend people put their names down for this day as I feel it could give them the driving experience
they would enjoy.

With the Excellent Whilton Mill event coming in September, this could be a great place for a Midlands region meet up.

Oh Yes indeadie. 100% for me. The international track is a joy to drive on and will give a cyclekart driver a chance to really feel the pleasure of driving their CK. It has a selection of fast, tight, left and Right hand corners with a couple of good size straights that will give you a chance of feeling of being at one with your machine.

It's looking good Chris and you've made quick progress. I look forward to seeing it at Malvern.

I can now be moved up to 100%, I have paid the balance to South Cliff which I think was a very reasonable price for 5 nights. The facilities on this site are brand new and very nicely done. The pitches are large, well drained and I'm looking forward to my little holiday there again. I just need to get my Dodge CK rebuilt in time after much abuse last year.

Tech Forum / Re: Big castor angles
« on: 25 Jan 25, 07:28 am »
Hi Ade, This system with large castor angles works on go karts because the drivers weight is far enough forward to put the pressure on the front wheels and lift the rear. Cyclekarts generally have very little weight on the front axle and even under braking and turning into a corner may not be enough to lift the rear. It would be interesting if someone did it as an experiment though to see what happens. It's possible it will just be wobbly and a bit unstable on cornering leading to rolling over. More castor is less turning of the wheel and more leaning over. The large diameter wheels could be leaning quite a bit I guess.
